In 2017, self-inflicted deaths in custody barge in Argentinian penitentiary scene, although it was a problem extended in the time. 425 people died in custody at Federal Penitentiary Service in the 2009-18 period: 109 of those deaths were self-inflicted. How are self-inflicted deaths in prison custody explained and to which state practices are associated? How the individual factors, the prison conditions and the triggers that precipitate them are interrelated? How could State responsibility be thought? This work aims to describe self-inflicted deaths in custody of the Federal Penitentiary Service the decade 2009-2018, and to analyze factors and state practices that explain them.
