Abstract

BERRI, Mateo  and  PANDOLFI, Jimena. “No a la baja” movement: strategic construction of collective identity. Rev. Cien. Soc. [online]. 2018, vol.31, n.42, pp.37-56. ISSN 0797-5538.  https://doi.org/10.26489/rvs.v31i42.2.

Based on the social movements “identity work” analysis as framing processes (Hunt, Benford y Snow, 1994), this article aims to identify the diagnostic, prognostic and motivational frameworks that guided the political campaign developed by the National Commission against the imputability age lower, based on the construction of a strategic youth identity. Analysing focus groups among its members, the article concludes on the definition of two strategies at different stages in the Commission’s trajectory: a first one in which young people are presented as structural victims and a second whose central objective was to transform social representations about young people.

Keywords : Youth movements; strategic identity; identity work.
