MENENDEZ, Gerardo. The longevity revolution: technological change, population ageing and cultural transformation. Rev. Cien. Soc. [online]. 2017, vol.30, n.41, pp.159-178. ISSN 0797-5538. https://doi.org/10.26489/rvs.v30i41.8.
This article tackles the rise of average population longevity associated to technological change and its interrelation with the sphere of culture. The analysis focuses on the case of the United States where post-war affluence propitiated a mentality of youthful absolutism that belies the actual demographic trends -which suggest the progressive predominance of the senior population. Basing itself upon the essays on this matter by historian Theodore Roszak, the article unveils the emergence of a new narrative on longevity.
