Abstract

PONTONI, Gabriela A.. Collective bargaining capability in Argentina, 1991-2011: teamsters’ recent experience. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.39, pp.131-154. ISSN 0797-5538.

The aim of this article is to identify and understand the strategies developed by the Teamsters’ in Argentina in order to improve its bargaining capability, being this last the ability of the union to achieve certain agreements oriented to sustain or enhance labor conditions by collective bargaining processes. The results are based on a case study and data was collected through interviews and document analysis in order to establish a diachronic comparison between two successive moments with different features: 1990-2002 and 2003-2011. It concludes that after 2003 were not only the characteristics of the context what strengthened Teamsters’ bargain capability, but were also crucial the decisions taken by its leaders in order to seize the arising opportunities of the new scenario
