Abstract

GRANA, François. Female Journalists on Uruguayan open-air tv: the long and steep road to professional recognition. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.39, pp.111-130. ISSN 0797-5538.

The aim of this article is to analyse from a gender perspective the ups and downs female journalists have experienced while accessing Uruguayan open air tv. Representatives of three generations were interviewed: some of the pioneers in the field, others who are seasoned professionals and count with public recognition, and some young reporters who have recently joined the ranks. The anonymity of these female professionals has been preserved to enable the analysis of their life trajectory. We shall outline the main obstacles and resistance faced by these female journalists in their quest for job equality in this second article based on our research into female communication from the perspective of gender inequality

Keywords : Journalists; tv; gender.
