Abstract

BENDINI, Mónica  and  PREDA, Graciela. Yolanda, herd woman-breeder in southern Argentina: trajectory and leadership. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.39, pp.91-109. ISSN 0797-5538.

The article focuses on the new productive and social roles assumed by women “crianceras” to persist as producers and to overcome structural problems. The history of life and work of Yolanda let visualize these processes in time and space as a biographical description but with a generic social approach. There analyzes her initial rural works, the constitution of her family, her emergence into public life and the display of her active participation in communal and sectoral organizations. Her social and productive behavior reveals a strong internal organization of work and an active political role in social collectives that position her as an organizational reference. These “crianceras” women promote with their work and participatory behavior, components of cultural identity as part of their dignity. The new her women breeder’ positions would be indicating changes in the characterization of a rurality impregnated with renewed social practices.

Keywords : Southern Argentine; herd woman-breeder; peasant family; productive and community livelihood; organization and leadership.
