VITELLI, Rossana y BORRAS, Víctor. Rural women during the progressive period in Uruguay: progress and setbacks. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.39, pp.73-90. ISSN 0797-5538.
In 2005 the country changed its political orientation when the government was assumed by the Frente Amplio. It was the beginning of a “período progresista” where -like several countries in the region and Latin America- policies located further to the left than previous administrations. However, even with an improvement on the living conditions of the population in general and the rural population in particular, gender gaps seem to continue. This paper intends to show some changes in the socio-economic situation of rural women with data available for the period 2000-2014. For the analysis it is used the theory conception of gender perspective. It was used data from the Continuous Household Survey, the Census of Population, and the survey made by the Ministerio de Ganadería, Agricultura y Pesca through its Oficina de Programación y Política Agropecuaria (opypa), in 2000.
