Abstract

In this article we propose to reflect on the symbolic construction of young people as an object of fear, in relation to the sensitivity of the crime and violence that have segments of society in the countries of the Cono Sur. In this article we use secondary data from multilateral agencies, government and ngos. First, we analyze the emotional construction of the sense of insecurity and violence. Secondly, we inquire about the hegemonic discourses that build an image of young people as criminals and violent. Towards the end a brief reflection on the problem of school violence takes place. We believe it is necessary to account for the emotional structures weighing on youth in order to counter the stigmatizing image that revolves around them
