Abstract

WALTER, Jorge. Customer violence: a psychosocial risk that claims for attention in Argentina. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2015, vol.28, n.37, pp.49-80. ISSN 0797-5538.

The analysis of the results of the 2009 argentine National Survey for Work, Employment and Health and Environmental conditions -which for the first time included a section with questions on psychosocial risks- highlighted a phenomenon of unexpected impacts and reach: the violence of the customers on the workers in organizations in the service sector. The literature review revealed that the problem recently drew the attention of academia and raised concerns in international organizations, companies and unions in different countries. Through a descriptive analysis of the survey’s results, the present text asks about the impact this form of violence has on labor according to different sectors and categories of employment, on the degree of information employees have on their rights and on the way in which companies and unions tackle and curb this problem.

Keywords : Psycho-social risks; violence at work; verbal aggressions; Argentina.
