Abstract

PREDA, Graciela. The expansion of agricultural capital in the north of Cordoba: transformation and dispute over the territory. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2015, vol.28, n.36, pp.55-76. ISSN 0797-5538.

The purpose of the present study is the analysis of the capitalist type agricultural expansion, manifested in the department of Río Seco, in Córdoba province, over the last decades. This process, which favored the development of an economy of scale and the concentration of capital, outdid the precedent productive forms and, at the same time, incorporated new actors having the sort of technology and knowledge required to conduct these production processes. The territory became, as a consequence, the scenario of conflict between traditional farmers and new actors who have differentiated capitals, modifying the geographical space as well as stimulating a new territorialization process. The methodological strategy was based on semi-structured interviews to the farmers of the department.

Keywords : Agrarian frontier expansion; transformations; territory.
