This article presents a series of images that partially show a new rural scenario in Uruguay. Among other reasons, these are a consequence of the process of installing and expanding global value chains in Uruguay. The first image shows a concentrating and exclusionary development pattern. The second image shows a transnational and anonymous model. These images were built on the basis of the hypothesis that those changes occurring in the Uruguayan countryside, whether they are due to speed, intensity and spatiality, or to their multiple dimensions, implicate a substantive break with the traditional images of the Uruguayan countryside.
