Abstract

VASQUEZ WIEDEMAN, Claudio  and  VALLEJOS QUILODRAN, Daniel. Juvenile rural migration in the Región del Maule, Chile: : expectations of future of the new generation. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2014, vol.27, n.35, pp.91-108. ISSN 0797-5538.

This document is a report of a social research developed, during the year 2013, in the Región del Maule; placed in the middle south valleys in Chile, which was sponsored by the International Labour Organization (ilo). The official statistical evidence suggests that the proportion of rural young persons is diminishing. This becomes aware specially in seasons of major labor offer on the part of the agroexporting sector, principal source of employments in the region, provided that is observed that the average age of the workers in the season of crop and packing is adult and senior. This problem comes to such point that the political authorities have evaluated the possibility of opening the border immigrants of neighboring countries who are ready to be employed at agricultural tasks of the summer season.

Keywords : Rural youth; migratory paths; expectations of future.
