Abstract

VORIA, María Andrea. Itinerarios en torno al reconocimiento social Una categoría de análisis. Rev. Cienc. Soc. [online]. 2014, vol.27, n.35, pp.4-14. ISSN 0797-5538.

We propose to recover the 'social recognition' category due to its relevance around the fight of achieving a livable life. For that purpose we pose the immanent tension between recognition and survival; while there is no recognition without survival, survival is not enough. We approach recognition as an itinerary that occurs in relation to another one, both in positive and negative way. Even though we assume the social recognition as a mechanism of power, we approach the human vulnerability as the only way to reach mutual recognition, where social inequalities dispel in face of the shared human precariousness, and where recognition has the power of rethinking the own vulnerability

Keywords : Social recognition; gender; vulnerability; power; discourse.
