OJEDA MUNOZ, Noelia  y  CABEZAS MORALES, Marina Eva. Representations of gender roles and stereotypes in Why Women Kill (Marc Cherry, 2019): transgression and evolution. Dixit [online]. 2023, vol.37, n.2, pp.95-108.  Epub 01-Dic-2023. ISSN 1688-3497.  https://doi.org/10.22235/d.v37i2.3348.

This article examines the evolution of gender stereotypes and the roles portrayed by female characters in the TV series “Why Women Kill” (created by Marc Cherry in 2019). It takes a close look at how these stereotypes and roles are represented through the series' protagonists, whose stories unfold in three distinct time periods. This approach enables us to vividly trace the changes in these portrayals over time. Drawing on insights from gender studies, cultural studies, and visual studies, this analysis examines the physical and psychological characteristics of the characters and explores their interpersonal dynamics with other characters. Despite being a specific work of media, this exploration allows us to construct a comprehensive overview of how gender roles and stereotypes have evolved across decades, influenced by various waves of the feminist movement and societal progress in this realm.

Palabras clave : gender; stereotypes; roles; television; fiction..
