Abstract

LOPEZ-MARTIN, Álvaro  and  CORDOBA-CABUS, Alba. Characteristics and competencies of digital journalism teaching in the degree of Journalism in Spanish public universities. Dixit [online]. 2020, n.33, pp.61-73.  Epub Dec 01, 2020. ISSN 1688-3497.  https://doi.org/10.22235/d33.2377.

The transformation of the communicative panorama as a result of the digitization and the implantation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) have forced to configure a new curricular offer of the degree in Journalism in order to respond to the demands of the labor market. This research aims to explore -through the analysis of the teaching guides and curricula of the twenty Spanish public universities in which the degree in Journalism is taught- the current characteristics and competencies linked to the teaching of digital journalism or cyberjournalism. It is observed that incidence of this matter in the curriculum is still moderate. Therefore, it is necessary for digital skills to be transversal during training, as well as to constantly rethink the degree to adapt it to the journalistic environment. It is also observed that the preponderance of practical skills means that teaching of theoretical skills has little place in the planning of the subjects studied.
