Summary At the end of the XVIII Century on the occidental field of the Paraná and the Banda Oriental, force vests or retobo, began to be practiced. That local method of torture and execution provoked death by secondary mechanical asphyxia with thoracic or abdominal compression. Medical-legal reasoning has confirmed the facts showed in the documents.
