We present the first pediatric uruguayan case of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. The patient is a 9 year old child who presented with typical clinical, radiological and laboratory findings of the disease. These features were the diagnostic clues at the Pediatric Emergency Departement. The diagnosis was confirmed by detection of hantaviurs-specific inmunoglobulin M and G by ELISA technique. The clinical course was satisfactory with cardiopulmonary therapy which didn’t require mechanical ventilation
