REFERENCES AND BIBLIOGRAPHIC CITATIONS

InMediaciones de la Comunicación applies the American Psychological Association (APA) style. Therefore, please adhere to the APA requirements for citations, parenthetical attributions, order of data in references, graphic highlights, and other key considerations when preparing the manuscript.

Some of the most common APA style considerations and requirements include:

·       Direct Quotations

Should be enclosed in quotation marks: “…”. At the end of the quotation, parentheses should be opened to indicate: Author's Last Name, Year of Publication, and page where the referenced quote appears. Example: “…” (Bourdieu, 1998, p. 47). It must be listed at the end in the REFERENCES section adhering to APA style.

·       Paraphrasing

In some cases, a direct quotation is not used, but the author's ideas or main arguments are summarized without using their exact words. In this case, the reference of the referenced work should be placed at the end of the paragraph, indicating: Author's Last Name and Year of Publication.

Examples:

-   We can also think about communication networks and how they process knowledge and thoughts to make and unmake trust, the decisive source of power (Castells, 2009).

-   We can also think, as Castells (2009) points out, about communication networks and how they process knowledge and thoughts to make and unmake trust, the decisive source of power.

·       Multiple Works or Authors

As an example, the reference in the manuscript body would be indicated as follows: (Castells, 1997, 2003; Becerra, 2006; Gumbrecht, 2011).

·       References

-   The bibliography includes all sources and references cited or used in the text (books, articles, or book chapters, periodical articles, theses, conference papers) and must be included at the end of the work, ordered alphabetically by author.  The necessary information includes: Last Name, First Name. (Year) Title. City of publication: Publisher.

-   When citing an online source, general guidelines for citing in print format should be used. The citation should include the author (or the responsibility assumed by the editorial staff of the medium that publishes the quoted text), the publication date, the title, the editorial institution where it is published (name of the journal, newspaper, periodical), volume and issue number if available, and the URL or DOI reference with the access date.

-   Beyond these general indications, manuscript authors should consult the different ways of citing and referring to the sources used (book, book chapter, journal articles, audiovisual material, web pages, etc.) and adhere to the APA style applied by InMediaciones de la Comunicación.

·       Amplifying Notes

Notes should be included as footnotes.

Use Arabic numerals (not Roman numerals). Font: Times New Roman 10

Footnotes: numbered and on the same page where they are mentioned in the text.

It is recommended not to overuse footnotes and to use them only when strictly necessary to expand or clarify what is mentioned in the manuscript body.

TABLES, GRAPHS AND IMAGES

They must be presented in Excel (.xls) files in two copies. The location reference in the submitted Word document must be included. They must be designed in grayscale.

Images must be sent in EPS (.eps) or Tiff (.tif) or JPG (.jpeg) format, in grayscale or color. The location reference in the submitted Word document must also be included.
